Tickets are on sale for our 20th Anniversary Nutcracker Ballet performance
presented on Sunday, December 17th at East Ridge Middle School.
Founded to foster excellence through discipline, challenge and joy, The Ridgefield School of Dance is supported by a faculty of current and former professional dancers in Ridgefield, Connecticut.
We offer pre-professional and recreational classes in Classical Ballet and Jazz. In addition to Ballet and Jazz, we offer Pre-Ballet, Contemporary, Lyrical, Tap, Musical Theater Dance, and adult classes along with Summer Dance Programs as an integral part of our curriculum.
Celebrating 20 years of excellence in dance!
Twenty years ago Nancy Baldwin Andrews founded the Ridgefield School of Dance and brought her love of dance to hundreds of students as both teacher and director. In July 2014, I purchased the school and together with Artistic Director Jessica Boelts, we brought our excitement, experience and passion to the school while staying true to the authenticity and traditions upon which the school is based. Throughout the years, the school has grown in size and reputation, and this year we are excited to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Help us celebrate by sharing your favorite memories and photos and we'll feature them on our website and social media. Whether your memory is of a particular lesson (in ballet or even in life!), making a new friend, or a funny anecdote, no memory is too small and we want to hear them all!
The Classical Ballet Program at the Ridgefield School of Dance is based primarily on the Balanchine-style of technique. Classes are tailored for the students to progress though levels appropriate to their age and ability.
Jazz & Contemporary
The Jazz Program incorporates a contemporary jazz style, that changes and evolves with new trends. Our jazz instructors are professional dancers and bring a very exciting blend of teaching styles and choreography to the studio.
Ballet classes are available for children ages 3 and up. Pre-ballet combines creative movement and play to build the foundation of a child's love for dance. Classes enhance young dancers' innate joy in moving, and the confidence and self-esteem they gain from dancing.
Each year, The Ridgefield School of Dance presents a winter and spring performance in which all of the students are encouraged to participate. Both events include a classical ballet and a highly choreographed offering from the Jazz Department (jazz, contemporary, lyrical, tap and musical theater dance). Our Spring 2017 performances of Les Sylphides and Carnival of the Animals took place on June 17th and June 18th at the Ridgefield High School. The show included the classical "Les Sylphides", the contemporary new choreography from artistic director, Jessica Boelts "Untitled", the comical "Carnival of the Animals" with original concept and choreography by Ms, Boelts and the jazzy "Together Forever" presented by the jazz department. It was an enormously fun and successful performance. Make sure to join us next December for the Nutcracker Ballet!
