About The Ridgefield School of Dance

The Ridgefield School of Dance is noted for its excellence and focus on technique, professional environment and commitment to small class size.  There are two session during the school year plus summer programs.  Our Fall session runs from September 5th, 2017 to January 27th, 2018.  Our Spring session starts on January 29th, 2018 and ends June 7th.  The highlight of the spring will be our 20th Anniversary performance on May 19th & 20th.

The dance curriculum serves both the pre-professional student and the recreational dancer in Classical Ballet and Pointe.  The Jazz department programs, including Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Tap and Musical Theater Dance are designed to address the levels of each student.  Adult classes in Ballet, Tap, NIA and GPS (Grace, Posture & Strength) are also available.

The school presents two performances each year; the Nutcracker in December and full-length classical ballets for the annual, year-end performance. Ballets in our repertoire include Alice in Wonderland, The Sleeping Beauty Ballet, CinderellaLes Sylphides,  and selections from Paquita, Swan Lake and Romeo and Juliet.  Our 2017 year end performance featured an original ballet of Carnival of the Animals with original choreography from our artistic director Jessica Boelts.

Our Summer Dance include Advanced-Intermediate and Advanced Ballet Intensives in June, Young Dancers' Workshop, Summer and Senior Sprites in July, and Wednesday Workshops in August. These programs give dancers a chance to work on strengthening their technique in Ballet, Jazz, Musical Theatre, and Lyrical/Contemporary.

Advanced students are encouraged to audition for summer programs throughout the country. Our dancers have been accepted to the Pacific Northwest Ballet, Boston Ballet, Joffrey and Bolshoi Intensive Summer Programs, Alvin Ailey, Walnut Hill in Boston, Steps Summer Program in New York, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet and the American Ballet Theatre (ABT) Summer Intensives.

We are very proud that students who have chosen to pursue dance as a career have been accepted into acclaimed dance programs at the Tisch School at NYU, Purchase College Conservatory of Dance, Purchase, New York and the Ohio State University Department of Dance.

Our faculty includes current and former professional dancers who are dedicated to sharing their knowledge and joy of dance with their students.

In June (2017), we presented Les Sylphides and Carnival of the Animals, an original ballet created by artistic director Jessica Boelts  and Together Forever an exciting presentation from our Jazz Department..  In December we presented our annual performance of The Nutcracker Ballet and Holiday Magic, a festive celebration from our Jazz Department.

On May 20th, we present Madeline a new, original ballet based on a children's classic. Our Company dancers will perform Paquita and the Jazz department will also present their newest choreography at the East Ridge Middle School.
